Mid Groomer


Job Description

The VFX Asset Generalistís focus will be on hair/fur grooming using modeling and texturing skills to create assets for the production team. Work must be photorealistic, with accuracy, detail, and function. Working with the in-house pipeline the VFX Asset Generalist is able to solve technical issues independently.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Create photoreal hair and fur grooms to be used on our digital doubles and creatures
  • Create high quality models and UVs for use in production; implement improvements/changes based on review feedback and Supervisor/Lead direction
  • Create photoreal textures, both hand painted and from set photography to a level of detail necessary for hero CG assets
  • Work within the defined pipeline
  • Ensure continuity and support other asset departments such as texture, lookdev, Generalists and rigging Complete assigned tasks in a timely manner
  • Work independently on defined tasks, but in collaboration with artists and supervisors in modeling, shading and lighting during the look development process
  • Learn and adapt to new workflows and methods

Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Experience is an asset
  • BA/Diploma in area of Digital Arts (preferred)
  • Working knowledge of Maya (required)
  • Excellent knowledge of Zbrush and/or Mudbox.
  • Mari,3ds Max, V-Ray, Nuke a plus
  • Xgen experience is a plus
  • Excellent technical troubleshooting skills and problem solving abilities
  • Experience working on creatures, digi doubles, topology and blend shapes (preferred)
  • Eye for detail and able to QA own work to ensure highest quality before handing off assets
  • Experience working under tight deadlines
  • Team player who is able to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Clear understanding of color space, shading, lighting, and rendering methodologies
